ENGINEERING INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT SERVICES

Risk Based Inspection
Risk Based Inspection (RBI) is an important process that every asset must undergo to ensure continuous safe operations. FIMS expert Engineers evaluate each asset on an individual component level and assign a probability of failure and consequence of failure to each component, which generates a risk ranking. The risk ranking is used to prioritize inspection, repairs, and other mitigations to ensure that the asset continues production while maintaining safety and process containment.

Integrity Risk Assessment
Integrity Risk Assessments are conducted by FIMS Engineers during the design stage of a project to ensure that all risks that can be designed out via materials selection are accounted for. Risks that carry into the operations phase of a project are clearly communicated to the asset team. This process ensure that the asset is optimized for safe production in the most efficient and economical way possible. It also is conducted in a way that aligns with a simplifies future RBI efforts.

Fitness for Service Evaluation and Assessment (FFS)
FIMS expert Engineers are available to conduct Fitness for Service Assessments, for any system component that our clients request. A Fitness for Service Evaluation is used to evaluate pressurized components containing flaws or damage. If a component passes the FFS Evaluation, it may be operated during normal process conditions once suitable monitoring and inspection programs are established. If it does not pass the evaluation, it may be able to be rerated for service at a lower temperature or pressure.

NDT Project Management & Material Testing Services
A FIMS expert Materials and Corrosion Engineer will serve as a lead in specifying, reviewing, and validating the types of materials testing required during the design phase of a project. The engineer will also, during the design stage, specify the types and frequency of NDT prescribed for the project and review and update these requirements as needed (after RBI’s or process excursion, for example) during the operations phase of a project. This ensures that our clients receive metallic components that adhere to the specifications under which they are purchased. This also ensure that these components are properly inspected during the operating lifetime of the asset.
